A small format.
A lasting footprint.
Introduced by Sony in 1992, MiniDisc brought digital recording into a compact, reusable format. Recordable discs use magneto-optical storage, with the disc protected inside a small cartridge.
Its portability made it a natural companion for interviews, rehearsals and recording on location. Today, the disc can still hold an important recording long after its playback machine has disappeared.

A digital path.
We use high-end Sony ES-series MiniDisc equipment. We inspect each disc before playback and use a digital connection wherever the recording and playback setup allow, avoiding an unnecessary analogue conversion.
A digital transfer preserves the audio available from the source. It does not undo the compression used by the original MiniDisc recording.
If you know whether your disc is SP, MDLP or Hi-MD, include that in your enquiry. We’ll confirm compatibility before you send it; we don’t assume every recording mode will play on the same machine.

Your transfer includes WAV files plus MP3 listening copies, delivered by digital download. Choose “Other” on the order form if you need a different format or specific metadata.
For track splitting, specific filenames, metadata or other preparation, include your requirements and we’ll confirm the scope. Online delivery is included. USB delivery is £8 including postage; a physical audio CD listening copy is £3 posted.
We retain your original discs securely for 30 days after transfer so you can review the files and request paid return within that window.
